Stomach with BariClip®
The BariClip is a medical device in the shape of a clip that is placed around the stomach in a vertical fashion. This creates a narrow vertical section isolating the remainder of the stomach. This new small vertical stomach reduces the amount of food the stomach can hold making the person feel "full" much sooner which minimizes food intake and helps significantly reduce weight naturally.
The BariClip is kept in place with a few sutures. There is no cutting , stapling or removal of any part of the stomach. Because the way it's designed there are no leaks and there is minimal reflux associated with this clip. Most patients with the BariClip don't feel hunger.
The BariClip is made of an internal core of titanium which is overcoated with medical grade silicone. The Titanium inner layer adds rigidity while the outer silicone layer provides a smooth and flexible surface for extra comfort. The BariClip is removable and can be placed in an ambulatory center. The BariClip does not require adjustments to be successful, nor are there any ports required to be placed under the skin.
The BariClip is implanted using minimally invasive surgery that lasts about an hour or less. Most patients normally go home the same day of the procedure and can return to work within 3-5 days.
The BariClip is the latest in medical technology for weight loss. It was designed to be placed vertically as a "Sleeve" which means it provides similar weight loss results as the Gastric Sleeve procedure but it is removable which means the BariClip can be surgically removed at any time leaving the original stomach intact.
Because of the "gentleness" of the BariClip, it can be placed in patients with lower BMI's (>30) who qualify. It may also be better for an older or younger population.
The BariClip is the newest bariatric tool for this very complex disease called OBESITY.

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of obesity based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. Use the calculator below to find out your BMI.
The longest implanted patient so far is at 9 years (as of 2022). Since the BariClip is made from high grade medical materials that have been used in implanted devices for many years, we expect that the clip could last for at least 20 years, if not more.
In some instances after significant weight loss in smaller patients, one may feel some minor discomfort in the upper left abdomen, which is hardly noticeable. At times, patients may require anti-inflammatory meds.
Since weight loss can lead to increase fertility, we caution our patients to use protection for the first year to allow the body to equilibrate and adjust. However, we have seen no untoward effects from patients with the BariClip who have become pregnant.
We encourage all types of exercises once the body has healed from surgery. If a particular type of exercise causes discomfort, we suggest you avoid that activity in particular.
We don’t advise against removal unless it’s for medical reasons, because of the possibility of weight regain. However, the BariClip can easily be removed at anytime.
The BariClip is not a " Band". It is a completely different product and provides weight-loss in a different way. The BariClip has minimal side effects compared to the traditional "Band".
The BariClip is approved for weight loss treatment in many countries around the world. More countries are joining the list every month so check back soon if you don't see your home country on the list.
